When you think about your time at TASIS, what immediately comes to mind?

Travelling around Europe with my friends, who are still my best friends today. As juniors and seniors, we could go on independent travel, so we would book trips to Venice, Florence, Lucerne, Milan. I still can't believe we were doing this all at 16: making hotel reservations, buying train tickets, packing our bags and off we went!

What was your favorite spot on campus?

Certenago Square, Angelo's, and the art studio that was next to Hadsall [in Coach House].

Tell us some of your best-loved memories.

Enjoying raclette and pizza diavola in St. Moritz at the Laudinella. Going to Venice for Carnivale. Our teachers blasting Gypsy Kings on the bus at the end of a long ride home from In-Pro to Florence. Walking down into Lugano from campus on a Friday afternoon for dinner.

Who were your favorite teachers?

Candace Owen-Williams, who inspired me to become an English major and an English teacher today. Alison McCracken. Sue Rhee.

Describe your life today. How did your time at TASIS impact your life since graduation?

TASIS has completely impacted my life. I married one of my old schoolmates, Brandon, with whom I met up with many years after graduation. We have two children, Emilie, who is 4, and Luke, who is nearly 2. I would love both of my children to experience a piece of TASIS like we did. It's fun to have a partner who shares the same memories with you from high school, especially a place like TASIS, because the school and the place become so much of your identity. There's something about a TASIS connection that is indelible. As a sophomore in Washington DC, I knew I wanted to spend my junior year abroad. I chose to go to TASIS and asked my parents if I could stay on till I graduated. Even way back then, in the early 90's, I could see what a special place TASIS was, but I had no idea how much it would impact my life...and still does!
