TPA Holiday Market Raises More than CHF 3300 for Service Learning Program

Thank you to the TPA and to everyone who attended last Friday's wonderful Holiday Market and Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. Thanks to the TPA, many student and faculty volunteers, and a supportive community, the event raised more than CHF 3300 for the Service Learning Program!

A message from TPA President Laura Colombo:

Dear TASIS Community,

As TPA President, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all parents involved in TPA activities. We are working so hard—with passion— and respecting each other as we always think about what is good for the students and for the entire School.

The TPA team is big, which is great! We have organized many events, and many times we have asked for help from students. I can say that they have worked so hard, and we have learned a lot from each other.

The TPA supported the TASIS Service Learning Program by donating tables for the Holiday Market. Students and their team leaders demonstrated strong responsibility as they managed sales at the event, and we achieved our goal of raising CHF 3,000 to invest in charitable projects. Great job, guys!

This week we also had the TPA Faculty and Staff Appreciation Panettone to demonstrate our thanks to all the people who inspire our students with passion and help them develop a curiosity for learning every single day at school.

Now it is time for my family and me to wish you a Merry Christmas and a joyous holiday season!

Best wishes,

Laura Colombo

Join Us for the Christmas Service on December 10

Mrs. Lynn Fleming Aeschliman, Chairman of the Board, and Mr. Christopher Nikoloff, Headmaster, cordially invite you to the annual TASIS Christmas Service at the church of San Nicolao della Flüe, Via al Colle, Lugano-Besso, on Sunday, December 10, at 15:30.

The Service will feature performances from the ES, MS, HS, and Faculty Choirs; the TASIS Orchestra; and members of the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana.

There will be a reception following the Service for parents, friends, and performers.

ES Christmas Concert Rehearsals on Morning of December 11

We will have rehearsals on December 11 in the Palmer Center. Focolare families, please drop your child off on the main campus (just like when we have all-school assemblies at 8:00).

ES Christmas Concert on December 15

The ES Christmas Concert will be on Friday, December 15, at 11:00 in the Palestra. We expect the program to run about one hour. The dress code is "dressy attire" (vestito da cerimonia). No sneakers or denim jeans are allowed. Children can wear festive holiday clothing—all holiday colors welcome. Valet parking will be available from 10:30–12:30, and there will be no shuttle bus service that afternoon. All children will go home with their families after the concert.

WISER Co-Founder Andrew Cunningham Returns to TASIS

Andrew Cunningham, who last visited TASIS seven years ago when he was seeking a partner for the WISER Girls Secondary School—a pioneering boarding school in Muhuru Bay, Kenya, that he co-founded in 2006—returned to campus on November 30 to address High School, Middle School, and Elementary School students and meet with the current members of the WISER Global Service Program group.

Read about Mr. Cunningham's visit on the TASIS Blog.

Security Reminder: Pick-Up Passes Must Be Displayed

We ask that you please make sure to display your pick-up pass in the windshield of your car any time you pick students up on the main TASIS campus. Our new security company, Gruppo Sicurezza, has reported that many drivers do not have their passes out when they enter the parking lot.

We also cannot open classrooms after school hours for students who have forgotten books or other materials.  Please encourage your child to bring home the necessary materials so this does not occur.

Thank you for your collaboration in helping us make this daily event safer and more efficient for our community. If you have any questions or would like to request a new pick-up pass, please email Sara Soncina.
